I'll tell ya, folks. Humidity is evil. It can squelch your energy within seconds of walking out that door and put you in a heat coma. But anyway, besides being sticky icky, this weekend was super grand and very much needed. We didn't make any plans to leave town because a) everyone and their grandma was planning on doing the same and b) we just wanted to relax. Saturday we hit up Costco. The best/worst time to go is on a holiday weekend. If you're planning on buying stuff it's probably a bad time to go because the lines are horrendous. If you plan on just mooching off their samples galore then a holiday weekend is the best time to go because they bring out the fancy spreads like key lime pie and 5 types of burger patties.
I think the best part about this weekend is that I was camera free. Well, obviously not totally as the above testifies, but I didn't take one picture with my slr. Rather than being strapped down on getting the right photo, I just snapped a few with my phone and called it good. It was nice.
Two things. Memorial Day was Jared's birthday. We're both entering the otherside of the twenties this year. 26 is just too dang close to 30! When we were in the car I asked him "Do you remember what happened 10 years ago on your birthday?" He replied, "I told you I first loved you." Darn right, his little 16 year old self did! I love you too, dear. Happy Birthday!
Lastly, how big is Evy Rae?! The girl is rockin' at life. She's going down slides by herself, climbing in her highchair, growing hair like a weed {although you can't see it because it's so blonde!}, a little fish in the water, and is getting more spunky everyday.

New York! New York!

Here is our adventure in the Big Apple brought to you in storyboard form.
I have to break here and say how amazed we were with the city at this point. I mean, completely struck with how foreign it seemed to us in comparison to LA. It was so crowded, tall, bustling, stressful, and magical at the same time. And I can't tell you how elated we both were when we looked down and saw Ev asleep in the umbrella stroller {thanks Jessica for letting us borrow it!}. She most certainly is not a napper on the go-er and that was tickling my nerves the whole afternoon of how I was going to get her to nap but bless her, she eased my worry and slept away for a whole hour and a half!

25 year storyboard
Friday, October 7, 2011
Yes Siree. I'm a quarter of a century today. As I thought about how I'm midway to 30 now, that creeped me out and made me feel really old. So I decided to think of myself as 25 years young and reflect on all that I've accomplished in my short life span thus far. It's quite remarkable actually. I'm not saying that I myself am remarkable, but that life is remarkable and time truly is a great gift. I am so humbled by the family I was raised in, the people I have met, the things I have learned, the places I have seen. This storyboard just illustrates the major chapters in my life, but it's in the nooks and crannies {all the stuff that "lives in my heart" you could say} where the good gems lie. Like playing Taco Bell in our backyard, family vacations, Dad making me special drink when I was sick, encouraging letters from a best friend, having a food fight in the parking lot in college, jogging in Hyde Park and having Jared come home late one night to open Ev's door and watch her sleep because he missed her. That's the good stuff.
Birthdays take on a whole new meaning now that I have actually given birth.
I am grateful for my parents today and for the life they gave me.
And to think my storyboard is just getting started! I hopefully have another 70 years left in me :)
Yay for 25 years!

- sit up so I don't have to hold her 24/7
- eat pureed veggies
- take a bath in the big kid bath
- scoot herself in circles on her tummy
- wrestles with me
- drinks a drop of water from a sippy cup [can't quite get down the sucking on that thing]
- plays with her toys for 10+ minutes without getting bored
- can hold her bottle by herself
- talks and giggles that just melt my heart
- is the best little girl that a mom or dad could ever hope for.

We kinda fell in love with Salt Lake.
If SLC ever relocates to outside of Utah, we'll move there lickity-split :)
