What happens when a baby, 30* weather, crowds, traffic, and grad school finals are involved? Getting gypped out of your evening plans, that's what. We had intentions this Saturday night to zip by the National Christmas Tree, then head to Ben's Chili Bowl and if we were ever so lucky stop by the Zoo Lights. I kinda figured that the zoo lights would be pushing it but we didn't make it past #1 on our list, people! The Tree was so darn packed with visitors and the roads so congested that we threw our hands up in the air and decided it would be best to calm our nerves with a peppermint cupcake and pick up Pizza Hut on the way home. Part of me was sad because we weren't finishing out the rest of our night's plans but all that melted away as soon as that stuffed crust slice with crushed red pepper dipped in ranch sauce touched my lips. Cheap pizza never tasted so good.
One out of three things on your list, not too bad. And what better way to spend the evening than sitting in traffic and fighting all the crowds in the cold, freezing weather!!
ReplyDeleteI am hoping we can go see the temple lights before Christmas!
Oh I totally understand this! Our past few weekends haven't gone according to plan at all :( And its such a bummer when you want to enjoy the Christmas festivities! But somehow, cheap pizza does fix all :)
ReplyDeleteYou are such a pretty mama! So glad I found your blog.
pizza hut is so dang good. their personal pan pizzas are heaven. i get one every time i go to target. guilty pleasure. but i'm not very guilty about it. so... just pleasure.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, I can so totally relate! I don't know how many times I make these grand plans with the kidlets and they always seem to get thwarted! lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! =)
Sigh... finals and things do get in the way of plans some times... but look at how cute you all are!? Sometimes pizza is a good fix and nights at home can be just as good as nights out :-) XO
ReplyDeleteSometimes cheap pizza is one of the best things ever. Just saying. Cute pictures :)
ReplyDeleteHello there!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the sweet comment you left on my blog. I did write that poem--thank you! After studying writing for four years and teaching it for three, I try to dish out something a little poetic no and then. ;) Anyway, can I just say that I LOVE your blog? I love "meeting" new friends in the blogging world, and you and I just seem so alike. Consider me your newest follower! :)
p.s. I can TOTALLY relate to this post. Our simple plans to go to Target today resulted in me pulled over on the side of the rode trying to smooth my crying little one. I guess Target will still be there tomorrow, right? ;)
Mmmmm I bet that pizza did taste good!!;) thanks for stopping by my blog!;) y'all are so cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm still sad we weren't able to join you for the tree at least, but I guess you could say our plans went awry too for Saturday. (I have only left the house once since Friday night and that was to take e to her pediatrician to get checked out.) but it's true, sometimes Plans take their own course but it all works out-- we've really enjoyed cuddling in the bed all weekend reading books to e and ordering in.
ReplyDeleteLet's try to get together before Christmas! Hopefully e will be all better soon...
Looks like a great night with your little family.
